Made with Bancha green tea, it is particular to this tea that it is made with peeled rice. In its country of origin it is consumed especially in the mornings, since it is a natural energizing drink, which has a large dose of minerals. Mild in flavor and low in protein.
Brown rice tea. That is the literal translation that genmaicha receives, a tea originally from Japan, where it is very popular, although for a time people rejected it, as they claimed that the rice took away from the flavor of the tea, but they soon realized that that they were wrong and that not only did it not detract from its flavor, but it also gave it a more pleasant taste and new health properties.
Genmaicha green tea also receives the colloquial name of Popcorn Tea in English, due to the popcorn shape that the puffed rice has when this tea is infused.
It is a very complete tea that has many virtues. On the one hand, it has a smooth, pleasant and fresh flavor and, as it contains little protein, it can be consumed at any time. It is said that it is a very digestive tea, which is why in Japan they serve it long after meals, although, at Aromas de Té we recommend that whenever you are going to drink green tea, an hour has passed, before or after to eat.
When it is very good to take it is in the morning, especially if we have to do hard tasks or sports, since it is a natural energizer, which has no side effects and contains a high level of minerals, which will help us compensate for them with those that we lose throughout the day doing our work or sport.
There is a variant of this tea that you can also find in Aromas de Té and it is the same tea, but with matcha. A fusion that is also made in its country of origin, Japan, to give it a little more flavor and intensity. They are clearly differentiated by the color of the infusion, the first being more yellowish and the one that includes matcha, more greenish. You can find it here
